Becoming A Yoga Instructor

Becoming a yoga instructor can be obtained with a bit of dedication, training and practice.  In todays world there are so many books, classes and even internet direction that if becoming a yoga instructor is your goal it is definitely attainable.

Teaching yoga can be a very rewarding career and offers a very flexible schedule with rewarding results.  Keeping in shape and doing what you love is priceless.  Becoming a yoga instructor can vary in intensity there are beginner classes that need to be taught as well as advanced yoga classes. Classes can be given in many different locations as well.  There are always the traditional classes that are offered in yoga studios and health clubs as well as senior homes, kids classes, and private lessons.  Many people have a very busy schedule and need someone to come to them. 

When thinking of becoming a yoga instructor there is much to consider. For example what type of yoga are you really interested in teaching?  There are many different styles of yoga classes and knowledge of these styles is very important.

Hatha style this class is generally a beginner yoga class and focuses on basic yoga poses.

Vinyasa style is a bit more challenging and is based on poses called Sun Salutations.  These poses focus on your movement and your breathing.

Ashtanga or Power Yoga is a style of poses that are always fast paced and in the same order.

Iyengar practice is based on the teachings of the yogi B.K.S Iyengar. This style focuses on body alignment through holding poses for a long time instead of moving quickly between poses. The use of props is encouraged in this form of yoga such as straps, blankets and blocks.  These props are used to help bring the body into proper alignment. 

Kundalini is based on physical movement being in conjunction with breathing.  This form is said to release energy from the lower body flowing upward.  

Bikram method or Hot Yoga is based on the teachings of Bikram Choudhury. This style is performed in 95 to 100 degrees.  The heat is said to release toxins from the body as well as loosen tight muscles.

These are just a few of the Yoga styles offered as you can see becoming a yoga instructor takes a bit of study on your part but if yoga is what you love to do then go for it there is nothing better than making money and enjoying it too.
